The trade mark office in South Sudan has been operational since January of 2014; however, no official South Sudanese trade mark law has been implemented. To date, the trade mark office has been implementing the (north) Sudan trade mark law along with its own practice and procedures. The current filing requirements, which are subject to change, are a legalised power of attorney on behalf of the applicant; one original certified copy of the applicant’s certificate of incorporation; and one original certified copy of the applicant company’s Articles of Association. At times, the trade mark office is also requesting a copy of the applicant company’s Articles of Association and Board Resolution specifically authorizing the registration of trade marks in the country (S. Sudan trade mark office, September 2014.)
