Dubai Customs Participated in the 8th International Law Enforcement IP Crime Conference in Vietnam. Over 500 delegates representing senior law enforcement officials, security and industry experts from around the world attended the 3-day conference, co-hosted by Interpol and the Vietnam National Police. Yousuf Ozair Mubarak, Director of the IPR Department at Dubai Customs stated that Dubai Customs implements the latest anti-smuggling techniques to curb the illicit trade of counterfeit products including through an in-house Risk Engine system updated with information on IP crimes. Inspectors also regularly attend training courses and workshops. Dubai Customs revealed that over 23 million IPR infringing items, worth an estimated US$17M, were seized between 2011 and 2013 and about US$4.5M worth of counterfeit goods in the first half of 2014.
